Developing a new drug is an expensive endeavor–$600M+ for preclinical work followed by approximately $2B in clinical trials. Unfortunately, most of this money is wasted on candidate therapies that fail during clinical trials.

But drug discovery is entering a new phase of rapid advancement, facilitated by the integration of AI and machine learning technologies. By leveraging these tools’ ability to more precisely filter out weak candidate therapies before clinical trials, the drug development process is becoming faster, less expensive, and more effective.

In 2016, after substantial financial investment in the traditional drug discovery process, Acadia Pharmaceuticals priced their new drug, NUPLAZID® (pimavanserin), designed to treat the hallucinations that can accompany Parkinson’s disease – at $23,400 per year, severely limiting patient access to the drug.

In stark contrast, Vincere Biosciences, by making use of tools available on CureHackers, has discovered numerous novel molecules for treating the root cause of Parkinson’s and is currently entering Phase 1 trials–all in under 3 years and for less than $6M.

The projects involved in furthering each stage of the drug discovery process are separated into categories. Find the project that corresponds with your needs, choose your preferred worker from the list of vetted freelancers, submit your down-payment and watch the project progress on your private project-management page.

Before your chosen freelancer is able to view your project request, they are required to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Our template NDA covers the legal ground that our lawyers believe to be most pertinent (including provisions for the handling of confidential information such as all messages and documents shared on the CureHackers platform) but you can require your freelancer to additionally sign your own NDA prior to viewing your project proposal.

If your freelancer accepts your work project, the contract they will be required to sign includes IP ownership provisions specifying that any work product created by the freelancer while working on your project is your property, and that the freelancer agrees to assign all rights to you.

All project proposals are subject to screening by CureHackers staff to ensure strict adherence to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC), which was signed in 1972 and has been ratified by over 180 countries. The BWC prohibits the development, production, and stockpiling of biological weapons. All CureHackers staff who view your project are contractually-bound by the same NDA(s) and work contract provisions as your chosen freelancer.
